A Festive treasure trail for art lovers, the Winter West End Gallery HOP! – presented by Mayfair Art Weekend and Art of London – takes place on Friday 10 December, with participating galleries in Mayfair, St James’s, Soho and Marylebone staying open until 8pm to give visitors a special opportunity to visit out of hours.
The West End Gallery HOP! concept emerged during the pandemic, marking the re-opening of the art world following lockdowns. Now a hotly-anticipated fixture in London’s art calendar, the Winter edition of the HOP! welcomes new participants across the West End, including Frith Street Gallery in Soho, Stern Pissarro Gallery in St James’s, Galerie Kreo and No.9 Cork Street, FRIEZE in Mayfair.
In addition to modern and contemporary art which have previously been its focus, through a collaboration with London Art Week, visitors to the Winter HOP! can explore the ancient and old masters too.
And the winter West End Gallery HOP! also coincides with the announcement of the winner of the second Mayfair Gallery Publication Award. Judged by Rebecca Morrill (Phaidon, Commissioining Editor (Art)), Thomas Marks (former editor Apollo), and Sam Phillips (RA Magazine, Editor and Publisher), the award emphasises the important contributions made by Mayfair’s galleries to art research and the art world’s book trade. Entries include publications from: Annely Juda Fine Art, Cardi Gallery, John Martin Gallery, Luxembourg & Co., Marlborough, Mazzoleni, Pippy Houldsworth Gallery, Richard Saltoun Gallery and Waddington Custot.
To join in West End Gallery HOP! visitors just go to mayfairartweekend.com to download the map, or turn up at one of over 30 galleries from 5pm where maps are distributed showing them all the open venues across the West End. Your map is your passport – no need to book in advance for your visit.
