FUNDRAISING AUCTION

There’s still time to catch Like there is hope and I can dream of another world at Hauser & Wirth’s Saville Row gallery (until 14 September).  The major exhibition, featuring work by leading contemporary artists including Phyllida Barlow, Sarah Berman, Thomas J Price, Mark Titchner and more, is a collaboration with Hospital Rooms, the pioneering arts and mental health charity – and, importantly, it culminates in two fundraising auctions hosted by Bonhams that hope to raise significant funds for the charity.

Award-winning Hospital Rooms works with artists, mental health patients and staff, NHS Trusts, universities and cultural organisations to bring high quality artistic environments and opportunities to people with severe mental health diagnoses.  The charity firmly believes that all people in mental health hospitals should have access to extraordinary creative and cultural experiences.

The charity’s fourth annual auction – taking place on the evening of 14 September and online – presents work by, amongst others, Amy Sherald, Pipilotti Rist, Takesada Matsutani, Julian Opie, Richard Wentworth, Susie Hamilton, Giles Deacon and more.

And in addition, artists including Orlanda Broom, Cathie Pilkington RA, Yukako Shibata and Andrew Pierre Hart have created artworks on 25 x 21cm canvases featuring the word HOPE. These works are available to bid on online.

Like there is hope also shares new work by Mark Titchner, Harold Offeh and Michelle Williams Gamaker created with people with lived experience of mental health services through the charity’s projects. Mark Titchner’s text-based 15 metre long painting, whose title was adopted as the exhibition’s name, will be installed at the newly built Rivers Centre in Norwich following the exhibition – and it is for the Rivers Centre, Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust, that this year’s auction will raise funds.

Online bidding is now open for both auctions.  Please visit bonhams.com
