Frieze London 2020

Frieze, the world’s leading platform for modern and contemporary art for scholars, connoisseurs, collectors and the general public has been back in the UK this week, with Frieze London and Frieze Masters 2020.  This year also sees the debut of its hybrid model, that combines a virtual experience through Frieze Viewing Room, with the live Frieze Week city-wide programme.

Frieze Week London runs from 5th to 11th October and features 128 galleries, museums, partners and hosted initiatives, including Frieze Talks, LIVE and Frieze Sculpture, its celebrated public art programme.  Frieze Sculpture can be seen in Regent’s Park until the 18th October.   The 2020 line-up features artists David Altmejd, Fabio Lattanzi Antinori, Gianpietro Carlesso, Eric Fischl, Patrick Goddard and Sarah Lucas.

The Frieze Viewing Room, available online from 9 – 16 October, has 250 galleries exhibiting from across the globe, bringing together art from ancient civilisations through to the contemporary moment.  Galleries at Frieze London and Viewing Room include: Sadie Coles HQ,  Fortes D’Aloia & Gabriel and the Stephen Friedman Gallery.

Victoria Siddall, Global Director, Frieze Fairs, speaking before the Fair said: ‘We are looking forward to launching a Frieze Week like no other this year – with so many great galleries participating, both online via Frieze Viewing Room and in person via extraordinary exhibitions across London. Our hope is that we will have our widest reach ever, as people all over the world discover and buy art on our digital platform, alongside a moment that truly celebrates London and its vital community of galleries, institutions and artists. I salute the entire Frieze team for their innovation and hard work, and all of our galleries and partners for their spirit of collaboration.’

Galleries presenting solo artist shows and curated exhibitions at Frieze Masters include Annely Juda Fine Art who is exhibiting early paintings by Leon Kossoff and steel sculptures from the 1970s and 80s by Anthony Caro, and Galleria Continua who is displaying early works from Carsten Höller’s 1991 – 1993 series, Killing Children.
