BRITISH ART FAIR

The British Art Fair returns to London’s Saatchi Gallery next month for its 32nd edition.

Bringing together more than 70 leading dealers – including Osborne Samuel, Jonathan Clark, Patrick Bourne, Willoughby Gerrish, Redfern Gallery, Robert Upstone and more – the Fair presents the very best Modern British and Contemporary British art, by luminaries including Bridget Riley, Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, Barbara Hepworth, David Hockney, Terry Frost, John Piper and many more.

This year’s Special Exhibition looks at artists who came to live and work in Britian from all over the world during the 20th century and contributed significantly to its culture.  Crossing Borders: Internationalism in Modern British Art – compiled by Colin Gleadell and curated by Monica Bohm-Duchen, founding director of Insiders/Outsiders – presents work by a host of artists including F.N. Souza, Rasheed Araeen, Avinash Chandra, Kim Lim, Frank Auerbach, Bill Brandt, Sidney Nolan, Susan Hillier and more.

And following the success of its debut last year, SOLO CONTEMPORARY returns with a selection of the UK’s most exciting young galleries.  Here, twenty dealers each exhibit a set of works by one chosen rising star, curated by Zavier Ellis.

WaterAid is once again the Fair’s official charity partner.  WaterAid will curate an exhibition of exclusive climate-themed work by artists and celebrities, all of whom are kindly donating 100% of their sale to the charity.

Art Market Columnist and British Art Fair Committee Member, Colin Gleadell, said:

“The latest art market report by UBS confirms that turnover in auction rooms and galleries globally has actually improved in the last year, even if just by 3%.  A closer look with a microscope would show some areas improving in leaps and bounds.  This would include the market for female artists and for previously unrecognised artists; both categories are amply provided for by the Modern British art market.”

The 2023 British Art Fair takes place at the Saatchi Gallery, London, SW3 4RY between 28 September – 1 October.  For further information and to book tickets:  britishartfair.co.uk
