ING DISCERNING EYE

The online 2025 ING Discerning Eye exhibition continues until 1 January – making it a great destination for Christmas gift shopping!

Marking its 27th year in partnership with ING, this year’s exhibition received over 6,500 entries from artists across the UK, and from these 730 artworks were selected for the exhibition.

Following a week-long show at London’s Mall Galleries, the exhibition has now moved online where browsers can see and buy work by both established and emerging names.

Amongst the main prize winners at this year’s exhibition are:

Victoria Sills for Alice, receiving the ING Purchase Prize, worth £5,000.

Hannah Woodman for Tunnel Hackney Towpath, awarded the Discerning Eye Founder’s Prize, worth £2,500.

Harriet Porter for Study of a Spherical Vessel, winning the Discerning Eye Chair’s Purchase Prize, worth £1,000.

Harriet Mena-Hill for her three entries, As it was; Lacrimosa and Cast Shadows, winner of the Discerning Eye Drawing Bursary Prize, worth £1,500.

Renowned for its unique curatorial approach, the ING Discerning Eye Exhibition is a show of small works, in any medium, selected by a panel of six prominent figures from the art world – who include artists, collectors and critics.  This year’s selectors were artists Curtis Holder, Polly Morgan and Richard Ansett; critics Rosie Millard and Dr Chris Stephens; and art collector Nicholas Scott.

Some of the artwork comes from artists who are personally invited by a selector and the remainder of the works is selected through an open submission process, allowing emerging artists to exhibit alongside established names. Though they sit together on a panel, each selector makes their choices independently, resulting in the curation of six smaller exhibitions within the whole.

The exhibition has been proudly supported by ING since 1999 in one of the longest-running commercial sponsorships of the arts in the UK.
