1957 Ferrari Goes for Over 32 Million Euros at Paris Auction

Ferrari 335 Spider Scaglietti Sale

This February, a rare Ferrari 335 Spider Scaglietti was sold for over 32 Million Euros by auction house, Artcurial, in Paris to an unidentified international buyer.
“{It is} both a work of art and the queen of speed,” said Matthieu Lamoure, managing director of Artcurial Motorcars.
At its peak, the Ferrari was capable of achieving 300km per hour.  It was also driven by some of the world’s premier drivers including Stirling Moss and Mike Hawthorn.  As well as being in top condition, it has excellent “provenance” and an undisputed racing pedigree.  It is this unique history  that has significantly contributed to the Ferrari’s high sale price.
“While some say that the sports and classic car market has reached a peak, this sale proves that top quality, rare cars maintain their value and are a good investment.  They are assets that need careful safeguarding.  We can do that at Smith Greenfield.
“It is difficult to put a price on how much you would insure a Ferrari like this for, but, if you had a similar car, motor collection or sports car, we would customise an insurance solution that met your particular circumstances and offer an ‘agreed value’ for each vehicle.  Classic and sports cars depreciate more slowly compared to mainstream models and, in certain cases, retain or increase in value.  Having ‘agreed value’ cover means that the value of your vehicle is set at the start of a policy.  Should your car be written off, the policy will then pay out the ‘agreed value’ as compensation,” says Imran Moideen, Smith Greenfield Premier Client Advisor.
